Crazy, fun week!

Last week was full of so many exciting activities, it's hard to remember them all!  We had special Homecoming activities on many of the days.  You will find pictures from the all-school pap rally in the albums to the left.  There are also pictures from the Friday hot-dog lunch outside, and the teddy-bear pancake breakfast!  The smiles on the children's faces are just precious.  There is one more photo album which has a few snapshots from Friday afternoon as the children were taking pictures with their digital cameras to show what summer looks like.

We finished our first math unit and took the end of the unit test.  That will come home in next week's Friday folder.  I ask that you please look through the math test with your child, go over any errors, and then sign the test, and return it to school.  That way, I have the tests when we meet during conferences, and we can look them over and discuss them together.

We have read 3 stories in our reading book and have begun 3 of the 5 parts of Daily 5.  The kids are doing a wonderful job of learning the expected behaviors during Read to Self, Read to Someone, and Work on Writing.  This week we will learn about Word Work and add that to our mix of morning literacy choices.

All in all, a successful week in first grade.  Busy, crazy, and fun!  This week we will be going up to the lab to do a cloud lab and heading outside with Mrs. Z to do a shadow lab.  We have pictures on Friday morning (thank goodness not after recess!).

Take care, and I will be trying to finish up my phone calls this week.  If any of you would rather do a quick 10-15 minute meeting rather than a call, I could meet with you Tuesday or Thursday after school.  Just let me know!  I may also try to make some calls during the day when the kids are in specials.  I look forward to connecting with the rest of you soon.
